(in)ception – A Fusion of Nature and Architecture
(in)ception is a visionary architectural project that harmoniously integrates the built environment with the natural landscape, offering a multi-sensory experience that invites exploration, contemplation, and connection with nature.
The design features a gently sloping grassy hill, seamlessly incorporating an open-air pavilion and an underground chamber. At the top of the hill, a perforated roof structure—reminiscent of floating clouds—rests on slender columns, providing shade while allowing natural light to filter through. This pavilion acts as a social gathering space where visitors can relax, interact, and immerse themselves in the panoramic surroundings.
Beneath the surface, a subterranean chamber is carved into the landscape, enclosed by raw-textured stone walls. A large circular opening at the top allows sunlight to cascade into the interior, illuminating a lush, enclosed garden. Small perforations along the curved walls create an ethereal atmosphere, with beams of light subtly shifting throughout the day. The underground space serves as a contemplative refuge, inviting visitors to engage in a more intimate and meditative experience with nature.
Ultimately, (in)ception blurs the boundaries between nature and architecture, crafting an immersive journey that resonates with the human senses. The project is an invitation to explore the interplay of light, shadow, materiality, and landscape, redefining how we experience space in relation to the natural world.
